The history of this car in 1973 and 1974 remains unproven, but believed to be new for Peter Revson as McLaren Cars' #15 entry at the 1973 Indy 500.
Chassis M15/3 was the third and final McLaren M15 constructed. McLaren M16: A three-time Indy 500 winner The story of the successful M16 race car In various guises the McLaren M16 saw frontline service as a works entry in Indycar racing for five seasons, in effect mirroring the long career of the M23, the F1 car that was a born a couple of years later.
Passenger capacity tops out at two. The car was unveiled at the Colnbrook factory in January 1971, some four months before action got underway at Indianapolis. Suspension geometry was unchanged from the original M16 and transmission was via a Hewland LG Mark 2 gearbox.
It was to be a great year for Rutherford, who was now clear number one at McLaren. Meanwhile Gary Bettenhausen won the Texas 200 with a Penske-run M16C.

Running a conservative strategy which was easy on the engine Donohue survived what turned into a race of attrition. Meanwhile Briton David Hobbs finished fifth at Indy in the second works entry, which ran in Carling Black Label colours. Its last known appearance was at Michigan in July 1976. It was entered by the McLaren Cars team in the 1970 Indy 500 for American racer Carl Williams.
The lights come with rain and light sensors as well as sequential LED indicators. His only race victory came at Phoenix, but he again finished second in the championship, this time to AJ Foyt.

Donohue’s parked machine was badly damaged when struck by a crashing car later on, and a new chassis had to be built and shipped to the USA.
Unknown in 1978 but reappeared in 1979 as Bill Alsup's #41 WASP Racing car. Would you like to view the site in 中国? He started his fifth Indy in a lowly 19th but gradually worked his way up the field to finish 9th. Not long afterwards Donohue was injured testing the team’s CanAm Porsche 917, while Bettenhausen was later hurt in a sprint car crash. The nose was shorter, which meant that the rear wing could hang further back and keep the car within the maximum overall length.

Penske had abandoned plans to run a Lola and had instead become McLaren’s first Indycar customer entrant. Sold to Bill Simpson later in 1976 (still as #6) together with M16C/4. There's also a front trunk offering an additional 5.3 cubic feet, bringing total cargo capacity to 20.1 cubic feet. He led the final 13 laps to give both McLaren and the Penske team their first Indy 500 victories, earning a $218,000 first prize.
McLaren has equipped the GT with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that generates 612 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. $195,000 9.5 / 10. It was supeceded by the much more modern M24 for 1977, at least as far as the works team was concerned.
Relative to the other models in this class, the GT has a disadvantage when it comes to passenger capacity.

Rebuilt, chassis M15/3 was raced only once more before it was retired. It was entered by the McLaren Cars team in the 1970 Indy 500 for American racer Carl Williams.
Among the differences were the use of bolt-on rear wings, allowed for the first time at the Indy 500 in 1972 and it transformed the race, with qualifying speeds jumping from 179 to 196 mph. After the M16-series cars had won three of the six 500-mile races held since their debut, the basic design was refined further for 1973 with the M16C, distinguished by a slimmer headrest fairing and a slightly lower and wider monocoque. Sold with M16C/2 to Jerry Karl for 1978 and entered as his #88 Offy car with Frank Fiore as chief mechanic and a #89 RasCar/Atlanta as his backup. Now it really began to look like the M23, with a similar, shorter nose and a chunky rear wing mounted on a centre pylon rather than the earlier strut arrangement. The works team only contested the big 500-mile races, and was also out of luck, although Johncock led at Pocono. Not seen again. For that reason, most people look for a 5.56 NATO chamber in their AR-15. New for McLaren Cars at the start of 1973, and raced by Johnny Rutherford at the early short-track events. In response to ensuing outcry, Holiday Inns agreed to donate 175 cars and Harrah's research library to a new Harrah Automobile Foundation and this became the basis of the National Automobile Museum which opened in Reno, Nevada, in 1989. Indeed Revson ultimately took pole at a record speed, with Donohue earning second place and Hulme – never a fan of ovals – in fourth.
Used with permission. Crashed by Revson and it is unclear when the car returned to the team. The Team McLaren backup in 1974 and 1975 has been identified, and good progress has been made for Penske Racing, but the details of Salt Walther's cars are still being worked through.
It's paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
