Most monitors are VESA® compliant and can be wall-mounted. Make sure your monitor is set as the default audio device for your PC. It's a combi Monitor/Freeview LG I'm using and with the original cable it worked fine. Are you using headphones or built-in monitor speakers? That works some of the time for me so at least I don't have to reboot all the time.
